Job summary

UMass Boston is seeking a Talent Search Director of Programs to oversee the Talent Search and TBACHS initiatives, coordinating services with Pre-collegiate TRIO and Early College teams. You will supervise staff, plan summer components, and manage budgets to ensure compliance and student success.

The role requires advanced degree and substantial administrative experience in higher education, plus strong collaboration with Boston Public Schools and community partners.

Qualifications

• Master's Degree in Education, Psychology, Sociology, Counseling or a closely related field and a minimum of five to seven (5-7) years of administrative experience within an institution of higher education, a secondary school or a related educational or workforce training setting is required.
• Knowledge of Massachusetts Core (MassCore) or similar standards and various educational assessments, such as SAT and MCAS, required.
• Demonstrated technical skills in grant and program management, accounting, budgeting, procurement, required.
• Knowledge of the Boston Public School System or a similar public school district required.

Responsibilities

• Staff supervision: recruit, hire, train, and supervise core staff and part-time staff; provide support and evaluations.
• Plan, direct, and coordinate programs, personnel, and fiscal matters.
• Develop and implement curricula and services; ensure mandated services are provided for EL or special education needs.
• Cultivate partnerships with schools, districts, and community organizations to support program goals.
• Manage budgets for Talent Search and TBACHS to ensure compliance with regulations.
• Data management: oversee data collection, records, and reporting for funders and programs.
• Direct student services: provide counseling and guidance; manage caseloads and field trips.
