Job summary

Qualifications

• Education – Bachelor’s Degree in Finance or related field
• Strong understanding of Credit Union collections, bankruptcy policies, and procedures.
• Strong understanding of related legal and regulatory standards, knowledge of collection practices.
• Strong understanding of consumer lending
• Minimum of 5 years of collection experience
• Minimum of 3 years of managerial experience
• Strong leadership and supervisory abilities.
• Excellent communication and public relations skills.
• Strong interpersonal skills
• Ability to work in stressful, high-pressure situations.
• Strong analytical and negotiating skills.
• Critical thinking and problem-solving skills
• Previous credit union experience is a plus
• Detail-oriented, and ability to multi-task
• Proficient in Microsoft Office and web-based applications

Responsibilities

• Plan, directs and monitors operations for Collection Department, ensuring goals and objectives are met with respect to collections.
• Keeps management abreast of collection trends, delinquency ratio, and charge offs to minimize losses.
• Plan, analyze, implement and execute collection strategies to improve collection efforts and reduce delinquency ratio.
• Monitors and evaluates collections/recovery totals, work quality, efficiency, and productivity.
• Represent credit union in court proceedings if applicable.
• File all claims, attend hearings, and coordinate with trustees for bankruptcy filings.
• Manage filing of insurance claims to realize the recovery of money and minimize losses.
• Serve as a liaison with legal counsel regarding all non-real estate transactions.
• Process garnishment and levy requests with proper reporting to creditors and members.
• Ensures department personnel are well trained, effective, and optimally used.
• Analyzes data and provides reports for management and staff.
• Prepare department reports for monthly board meetings.
• Provides leadership through objective setting and delegation.
• Collaborates with other internal departments to improve member experience.
• Develops budget, plans for and analyzes internal expenditures.
