Job summary

The City of Forest Park is seeking a seasoned Director of Code Compliance to lead the Code Compliance Department, directing inspectors and staff in inspections for property maintenance, zoning, and health and safety regulations. This role requires strong communication, strategic judgment, and cross-functional leadership within a municipal setting.

Qualifications

• Must hold valid Housing Rehabilitation Inspector and Housing Rehabilitation Code Enforcement Officer certifications.
• Must possess Building Inspector certification and One/Two Family Dwelling Inspector credentials.
• Prefer Level II GACE Master’s Certification and ICC Property Management Certification.

Responsibilities

• Direct Code Compliance Department staff; plan and schedule inspections in response to complaints.
• Enforce city ordinances related to building, zoning, environmental and business licenses.
• Prepare and manage the department budget; forecast funds and approve expenditures.
• Participate in court activities, present cases and assist in appeals of violations.
• Provide policy guidance, review cases for trial readiness and advise staff on actions.
