Job summary

Aurora Charter Oak Hospital in Covina, CA is seeking an experienced Director of Clinical Services to guide clinical operations and advance patient care in a hospital setting.

The role reports to the CEO, requires California-licensed LCSW/LMFT, a master's degree, 3–5 years healthcare experience and 1–3 years of supervision; combined with crisis intervention and case management skills.

Qualifications

• Master's in Social Work or equivalent in a recognized mental health field.
• Current California LCSW or LMFT license.
• 3–5 years in a healthcare setting; inpatient preferred.
• 1–3 years supervisory experience.
• Experience in inpatient settings and crisis intervention.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, licensing and regulatory requirements.
• BLS for healthcare provider upon hire.
• TOT certification prior to direct patient care.

Responsibilities

• Oversee department operations and coordinate care delivery 24/7.
• Collaborate with other departments and external organizations.
• Review treatment documentation for quality and compliance.
• Supervise professional staff and manage departmental budgets.
• Ensure department goals align with approved budgets.

This is a full-time, Exempt position.

Pay range $120,000 - $155,000 annually.

The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) has 24/7 department responsibilities for assisting in program development and coordinating delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy.

• Assists in the department through interaction with other departments, various professional healthcare disciplines, and external organizations.
• Reviews treatment documentation to assure quality and appropriateness of care, compliance with internal and external policies, and proper transfer and assure quality and appropriateness of care, compliance with internal and external policies, and proper transfer and disposition of patients with families and other agencies.
• Supervises professional staff
• Prepares departmental budgets and records
• Ensures that department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets

• Masters in Social Work or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field.

• Current California licensed LCSW or LMFT
• 3-5 years’ experience in a healthcare setting; inpatient setting preferred
• 1-3 years’ supervisory experience
• Experience in inpatient setting preferred
• Skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice
• Knowledge of acute psychological disorders; advanced principals of abnormal psychology
• Familiarity with available follow-up resource services
• Skills in conducting marital and family group therapy
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS, All State and Federal regulatory requirements
• Current BLS for healthcare provider card upon hire
• Therapeutic Options (TOT) to be obtained prior to providing direct patient care without a preceptor
