Charter Oak Behavioral Health Hospital in Covina, California, seeks an experienced Director of Clinical Services to lead clinical operations and partner with the CEO to align services with organizational goals.

This full-time exempt role oversees 24/7 department activities, drives program development, ensures quality of care, and supervises staff, with a focus on inpatient mental health and substance use treatment.

Qualifications

• Master's in Social Work or equivalent master’s degree in a recognized mental health field.
• Current California licensed LCSW or LMFT.
• 3–5 years' experience in a healthcare setting; inpatient setting preferred.
• 1–3 years' supervisory experience.
• Experience in inpatient setting preferred; crisis intervention skills.
• Knowledge of Joint Commission, CMS, All State and Federal regulatory requirements.
• Current BLS for healthcare provider card upon hire.
• TOT training to be obtained prior to providing direct patient care without a preceptor.

Responsibilities

• Supervise professional staff and oversee departmental operations.
• Prepare departmental budgets and records.
• Ensure department goals are met within approved budgets.
• Assist in program development and coordinate delivery of patient care.
• Interact with other departments, healthcare professionals, and external organizations.
• Review treatment documentation for quality and compliance.

We are looking for an experienced Director of Clinical Services to join our team.

This is a full-time, Exempt position.

Pay range $120,000 - $155,000 annually.

The Director of Clinical Services (DCS) has 24/7 department responsibilities for assisting in program development and coordinating delivery of patient care in accordance with the established standards of care, mental health practice and hospital policy.

• Assists in the department through interaction with other departments, various professional healthcare disciplines, and external organizations.
• Reviews treatment documentation to assure quality and appropriateness of care, compliance with internal and external policies, and proper transfer and assure quality and appropriateness of care, compliance with internal and external policies, and proper transfer and disposition of patients with families and other agencies.
• Supervises professional staff
• Prepares departmental budgets and records
• Ensures that department goals are met and adhering to approved budgets

Requirements

• Masters in Social Work or equivalent master's degree in a recognized mental health field.
• Current California licensed LCSW or LMFT
• 3-5 years' experience in a healthcare setting; inpatient setting preferred
• 1-3 years' supervisory experience
• Experience in inpatient setting preferred
• Skills in case management, time management, and crisis intervention common to acute psychotic as well as to non-violent crises intervention practice
• Knowledge of acute psychological disorders; advanced principals of abnormal psychology
• Familiarity with available follow-up resource services
• Skills in conducting marital and family group therapy
• Knowledge of The Joint Commission, CMS, All State and Federal regulatory requirements
• Current BLS for healthcare provider card upon hire
• Therapeutic Options™ (TOT) to be obtained prior to providing direct patient care without a preceptor
