Objective

The Director of Children’s Ministry helps set the mission and vision of Children’s Ministry at Northside. This person oversees the department and team in service to our birth through elementary-aged children. They will be a strong leader and team player, grounded in United Methodist theology, and a positive reflection of God’s love. They are responsible for planning and executing the vision of the Children’s Ministry Department while leading children in faithful discipleship.

• Be grounded in faith and United Methodist theology.
• Embrace long-term planning and be highly organized.
• Be a strong team player and work well with Northside staff and community.

Knowledge and Skills

• Knowledge of United Methodist Church beliefs, doctrines, discipline, traditions, and social principles.
• Understanding of Northside Church’s culture and values, supporting its mission and demonstrating God's love.
• Expertise in Biblical interpretation, child development, faith development, and religious education theory and practice.
• Knowledge of UMC’s Safe Sanctuary guidelines.
• Strong faith in Jesus Christ and a commitment to sharing that faith.
• Leadership skills to inspire and motivate staff and volunteers.
• Excellent communication and interpersonal skills, including appropriate discipline.
• Proficiency with smartphones, tablets, computers, Microsoft Office (including Outlook and Access).
• Valid driver’s license.

Education and Experience

• Bachelor’s degree in Christian Education, Education, or related field.
• Five or more years of Children’s Ministry experience.
• Or a combination of education and experience meeting the minimum requirements.
