The Director of Catering is responsible for planning events including but not limited to club events, weddings, holiday parties, company award and recognition dinners, retirement parties, team banquets, and business meetings. Duties include tours, menu planning, tastings, layout, and all other details related to providing the highest level of personalized service throughout the sales and event process.
The Director of Catering is also a staff liaison to the House Committee. Additionally, they will be working closely with our 9 and 18-hole Women's Golf Leagues and Club golf tournaments and events. There is also heavy involvement in the planning of Club events featured in the Family Guide. The Director of Catering works closely with our Food and Beverage Manager, Event Coordinator, Executive Chef, Banquet Manager, Clubhouse Dining and Service Managers and Member Engagement & Communications Coordinator.
Catering (70%)
- Organize and coordinate all aspects of catering event functions.
- Work with members to ensure their events succeed. Help members consider all event details, and partner with additional vendors as appropriate.
- Serve as the primary connection between the members and the staff. Work proactively and creatively to resolve any issues that arise. Provide timely follow-up on all member inquiries and requests.
- Work with the members providing tours and meetings and organizing the food and beverage menus, event contracts, layouts, and special event requests.
- Oversee the communication of event details to staff, including seating arrangements, room setup/layout, AV requirements, decoration, and outside vendor delivery/setup/pickup details.
- Welcome clients on the day of their event when needed and assist in the supervision of functions when necessary.
- Personally follow up with members post-function to thank them and establish a relationship for future, repeat business.
- Maintain detailed files for past events regarding counts, special instructions, and suggestions for changes in future.
- Manage the function book and accept functions in a manner to maximize Club revenue.
- Prepare and review banquet event orders at our staff meeting which provides work detail to the kitchen, dining room, and business office on a weekly basis.
- Review annually with the team the banquet menu and catering worksheets.
- Develop and successfully execute a marketing plan to generate additional catering business, which helps reach or exceed budget goals.
Club Event Planning (25%)
- Serve as the staff liaison to the 9-hole and 18-hole women's golf leagues, men’s league, and couples league plus coordinate member events in conjunction with Golf Shop.
- Arrange details for annual board golf outing, past president's golf outing, board holiday party, member Invitationals, leagues, and golf events.
- Participate in the planning and organization of the Family Guide club events. Assist with vendor contracts and attend day of events when assigned.
- Prepare event diagrams and confirm final event details as needed.
- Maintain files for past events regarding counts, special instructions, and future ideas.
Miscellaneous (5%)
- Attend Club Caterers Association (CCA) events and meetings plus other meetings or conferences recommended by the General Manager to continually promote NOGC.
- Annually send post event experience surveys for banquets and large member events when evaluations are needed.
- Performs other appropriate tasks assigned by the General Manager.

- Highly proficient in Microsoft Office, Reserve, Social Table, and Fore Tees is preferred.
- High school diploma - Bachelor's degree in marketing, communications, or hospitality related field preferred.
- Two+ years’ experience in the private club event industry is preferred.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends and holidays when needed.
