Auxiliary Services Association of Stony Brook University seeks a Director of Campus Dining to provide strategic oversight of contracted dining services, acting as the main liaison with the vendor to ensure high-quality operations and strong financial performance for students, faculty, staff, and guests.

The role requires a Bachelor's degree with 5+ years in dining contract execution or related business development, plus experience managing third-party providers and negotiating favorable terms.

Qualifications

  • 5+ years of dining contract execution or business development experience.
  • Experience in higher education environment.
  • Proven vendor management and accountability.
  • Strong negotiation and communication skills.
  • Financial acumen including reviewing P&L and budgets.

Responsibilities

  • Manage vendor relationships; ensure contract compliance, service quality and operational excellence.
  • Lead performance reviews, audits, contract renewals, and RFP processes.
  • Oversee financial performance, including budgets, P&L and revenue optimization.
  • Develop and implement campus dining strategy to enhance satisfaction and engagement.
  • Collaborate with campus stakeholders and student groups to improve dining services.
  • Drive innovation in dining, including sustainability, technology, and new concepts.
  • Supervise Sustainability Coordinator, align sustainability initiatives with dining-related capital projects and campus initiatives.

Job description

The Director of Campus Dining provides strategic oversight of contracted dining services, serving as the primary liaison with the vendor to ensure high-quality operations, strong financial performance, and an exceptional customer experience for students, faculty, staff and guests.

Salary: From $110,000.00 - $150,000.00 per year

FLSA Status: Exempt Schedule: Full-time

Required Qualifications:

  • Bachelor's degree in Business Administration, Hospitality, Public Administration, or a related field, or equivalent of education and experience.
  • 5+ years of dining contract execution or business development experience
  • Experience in higher education environment
  • Proven record in managing third-party service providers and holding vendors accountable to performance standards
  • Excellent negotiation, communication, and relationship management skills
  • Strong financial acumen, including reviewing P&L statements, budgets, and contract financial models

Preferred Qualifications:

  • Experience with food service contracts
  • Knowledge of RFP processes and procurement policies
