We are looking for a high-performing Director of Business Development to lead growth initiatives in the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Data Center Infrastructure markets across the U.S. This strategic leadership role is ideal for a driven professional with deep industry knowledge, strong technical acumen, and a proven track record in selling engineering and manufacturing services or complex infrastructure solutions.

  • You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and securing high-value contracts that align with our engineering firm's capabilities in electrical, civil, and power system design.
  • This position has the potential to be fully remote based on the candidate’s qualifications and fit.

Position Overview:

We are looking for a high-performing Director of Business Development to lead growth initiatives in the Battery Energy Storage Systems (BESS) and Data Center Infrastructure markets across the U.S. This strategic leadership role is ideal for a driven professional with deep industry knowledge, strong technical acumen, and a proven track record in selling engineering and manufacturing services or complex infrastructure solutions.

  • You will be responsible for identifying opportunities, developing strategic partnerships, and securing high-value contracts that align with our engineering firm's capabilities in electrical, civil, and power system design.
  • This position has the potential to be fully remote based on the candidate’s qualifications and fit.
Key ResponsibilitiesStrategic Market Development
  • Develop and lead go-to-market strategies for the BESS and data center sectors in North America.
  • Identify, qualify, and prioritize strategic growth opportunities, including utilities, IPPs, data center operators (hyperscalers), and EPC partners.
  • Track market trends, incentives (e.g., IRA, FERC, state policies), and competitive intelligence to inform business strategy.
Client Relationship Management
  • Build and maintain relationships with key clients, developers, and technology partners.
  • Represent the company at conferences, industry events, and customer meetings.
  • Drive account growth by understanding client needs and aligning our engineering solutions to their objectives.
Proposal and Commercial Execution
  • Lead the business development process from lead generation through RFP/RFQ development, proposal submission, contract negotiation, and project kickoff.
  • Collaborate with internal technical teams to create compelling, tailored proposals.
  • Develop and manage pricing strategies, contract terms, and commercial models.
Leadership & Cross-Functional Coordination
  • Support internal alignment between business development, engineering, marketing, and executive leadership.
  • Provide accurate sales forecasting, pipeline tracking, and regular progress reporting.
  • Potential to build and lead a business development team in line with company growth.
Required Qualifications
  • Bachelor's degree in engineering, Business, or related field (MBA or M.S. in Engineering a plus)
  • Minimum 10 years of progressive experience in business development or sales in energy, engineering, or infrastructure sectors.
  • Direct experience with large-scale Battery Energy Storage and/or Data Center projects in the U.S.
  • Strong understanding of U.S. regulatory frameworks, utility interconnection processes, and engineering service scopes.
  • Proven ability to close multi-million-dollar deals and manage complex sales cycles.
  • Excellent communication, negotiation, and leadership skills.
  • Willingness to travel domestically up to 40%.
Preferred Qualifications
  • Existing network of relationships within utilities, developers, EPCs, and hyperscalers.
  • Familiarity with IRA incentives, FERC/ISO processes, and clean energy funding models.
  • Technical fluency in electrical system design, grid-scale energy storage, and power infrastructure.
  • Experience in a consulting, design, or EPC engineering environment.
