Job summary

TENCU is seeking a seasoned Director of Branch Operations to lead our East Tennessee branch network, including Cookeville and Johnson City. You will direct branch teams and Teller Supervisors, develop future leaders, and elevate member experiences while driving operational excellence.

In this role, you will partner with executive leadership to drive branch sales, monitor performance, and implement efficiency improvements while ensuring compliance and risk controls across locations.

Qualifications

• 5-8 years of progressive experience in a banking or credit union environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of branch operations, deposit services, and retail banking.
• Experience leading teams, coaching employees, and driving performance results.

Responsibilities

• Lead High-Performing Teams: Provide leadership and direction to Teller Supervisors and branch teams across multiple locations.

Director of Branch Operations

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM & Friday. 8:00AM - 6:00PM

As the Director of Branch Operations, you will lead branch teams and Teller Supervisors, develop future leaders, oversee branch performance, and partner with executive leadership to execute strategies that fuel growth, strengthen member relationships, and support our mission of improving lives through financial empowerment.

What You'll Do

Lead High-Performing Teams

• Provide leadership and direction to Teller Supervisors and branch teams across multiple locations.
• Coach, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the organization.

Drive Growth & Operational Excellence

• Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute branch sales and service strategies.
• Monitor branch performance and identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and innovation.
• Lead operational improvement initiatives that support organizational objectives.

Ensure Compliance & Risk Management

• Maintain compliance with applicable banking and credit union regulations.
• Oversee operational audits, security procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure branches operate safely, efficiently, and according to policy.

Strengthen Community Connections

• Represent TENCU in the community and build meaningful relationships that support membership growth.
• Promote the credit union's mission, values, and commitment to service.

What You Bring

Required Experience

• 5-8 years of progressive experience in a banking or credit union environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of branch operations, deposit services, and retail banking.
• Experience leading teams, coaching employees, and driving performance results.

Education

• Associate degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Travel Requirements

This position requires regular travel to TENCU branch locations throughout East Tennessee to support operations at the Cookeville and Johnson City branches, conduct audits, and collaborate with teams. This position is exempt.
