Job summary

TENCU is seeking an experienced Director of Branch Operations to lead Teller Supervisors and branch teams across East Tennessee, including Cookeville and Johnson City. You will drive growth, elevate member experiences, and partner with executive leadership to execute strategy.

In this role you will focus on developing leaders, improving processes, ensuring compliance, and strengthening community relationships while traveling regularly to TENCU branches. Local candidates in Tennessee preferred.

Qualifications

• 5–8 years in banking or credit union environment.
• Minimum 3 years in leadership or management.
• Strong knowledge of branch operations, deposits, and retail banking.
• Experience coaching teams and driving performance.

Responsibilities

Director of Branch Operations

Schedule: Monday - Thursday, 8:00AM - 5:00PM & Friday. 8:00AM - 6:00PM

At TENCU, we're looking for an experienced, strategic leader to guide our branch network, elevate member experiences, and drive operational excellence across East TN leading our Cookeville and Johnson City branches.

As the Director of Branch Operations, you will lead branch teams and Teller Supervisors, develop future leaders, oversee branch performance, and partner with executive leadership to execute strategies that fuel growth, strengthen member relationships, and support our mission of improving lives through financial empowerment.

What You'll Do

Lead High-Performing Teams

• Provide leadership and direction to Teller Supervisors and branch teams across multiple locations.
• Coach, mentor, and develop emerging leaders within the organization.
• Foster a culture of accountability, engagement, and exceptional member service.

Drive Growth & Operational Excellence

• Partner with executive leadership to develop and execute branch sales and service strategies.
• Monitor branch performance and identify opportunities for growth, efficiency, and innovation.
• Lead operational improvement initiatives that support organizational objectives.

Ensure Compliance & Risk Management

• Maintain compliance with applicable banking and credit union regulations.
• Oversee operational audits, security procedures, and internal controls.
• Ensure branches operate safely, efficiently, and according to policy.

Strengthen Community Connections

• Represent TENCU in the community and build meaningful relationships that support membership growth.
• Promote the credit union's mission, values, and commitment to service.

What You Bring

Required Experience

• 5-8 years of progressive experience in a banking or credit union environment.
• Minimum of 3 years of leadership or management experience.
• Strong knowledge of branch operations, deposit services, and retail banking.
• Experience leading teams, coaching employees, and driving performance results.

Education

• Associate degree required.
• Bachelor's degree preferred.

Travel Requirements
