Job summary

Brown University seeks a Director of Behavioral Threat Assessment and Management to lead BART, Brown's behavioral threat assessment program. You will chair the BART Team, coordinate with Campus Life, HR, CAPS, General Counsel, Title IX, and other partners to standardize risk assessment and prevention across the university.

Qualifications

• Master's degree in psychology, counseling, social work, criminal justice, public safety administration, higher education administration, or a closely related field.
• 7–10 years of progressively responsible experience in behavioral threat assessment, violence risk assessment, or related leadership roles.
• Experience utilizing structured professional judgment methodologies and evidence-informed threat assessment frameworks.
• Working knowledge of FERPA, Clery Act, Title IX, ADA/Section 504, and campus-safety statutes.
• Ability to build cross-divisional relationships and influence across decentralized departments.

Responsibilities

• Chair and convene the multidisciplinary BART Team and set meeting cadence and review protocols.
• Serve as the case manager of record for high-risk referrals, coordinating with Public Safety and Campus Life.
• Develop and oversee risk assessment and threat management policies, training, and protocols.
• Lead data-driven risk analysis and reporting to senior leadership for risk reduction.
• Coordinate cross-campus collaboration to align intake, escalation, and referral pathways.
• Manage quality assurance and continuous improvement of case management and governance.
• Provide subject-matter expertise, training, and consultation across departments.
