Luxury Resort | Large-Scale Event Operations

An exceptional luxury resort is seeking an accomplished Director of Banquets to lead a high-volume banquet and event operation. This senior leadership role requires extensive experience managing large event spaces, complex resort functions, and elevated guest experiences within a luxury hospitality environment.

The Director of Banquets will oversee all banquet operations, including weddings, corporate meetings, conferences, galas, social celebrations, and large-scale resort events. The ideal candidate is a highly visible, hands-on leader with a strong operational presence, refined service standards, and the ability to execute multiple events simultaneously with exceptional attention to detail.

Key Responsibilities

• Direct all banquet operations across extensive indoor and outdoor event spaces.
• Lead the flawless execution of luxury weddings, corporate programs, conferences, galas, and high-profile social events.
• Oversee event setup, service execution, breakdown, staffing, equipment, and operational logistics.
• Partner closely with Catering Sales, Conference Services, Culinary, Stewarding, Engineering, Security, and Resort Operations.
• Review banquet event orders and lead pre-convention, pre-shift, and operational meetings.
• Ensure every event is executed according to contractual commitments, resort standards, and guest expectations.
• Recruit, train, mentor, schedule, and develop banquet managers, captains, servers, housepersons, and support teams.
• Establish luxury service standards and maintain a consistent culture of accountability, professionalism, and personalized hospitality.
• Manage departmental labor, operating expenses, equipment, inventory, and productivity.
• Develop staffing plans for simultaneous events and fluctuating resort business levels.
• Monitor banquet revenue, payroll, departmental forecasts, budgets, and profitability.
• Maintain compliance with food safety, sanitation, responsible alcohol service, workplace safety, and resort policies.
• Anticipate operational challenges and resolve guest or client concerns with urgency, discretion, and professionalism.
• Identify opportunities to improve event flow, service delivery, guest satisfaction, and financial performance.

Required Qualifications

• Previous Director of Banquets, Assistant Director of Banquets, or senior banquet leadership experience within a luxury resort or high-end, full-service hotel.
• Demonstrated success overseeing large event spaces and high-volume banquet operations.
• Resort experience is required.
• Experience executing luxury weddings, conferences, corporate programs, galas, and complex multi-day events.
• Strong knowledge of banquet service, event logistics, room configurations, audiovisual coordination, and food and beverage operations.
• Proven experience managing large teams, multiple event spaces, and simultaneous functions.
• Strong financial acumen, including labor management, budgeting, forecasting, cost controls, and revenue optimization.
• Exceptional leadership, organization, communication, and problem-solving skills.
• Ability to remain composed, decisive, and highly visible during demanding events.
• Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, holidays, and extended hours based on the resort’s event schedule.
• Experience with luxury service standards, including Forbes-rated or AAA Four Diamond/Five Diamond environments, is strongly preferred.
• Bachelor’s degree in Hospitality Management, Business Administration, or a related field is preferred.
