Job summary

The Town of Barnstable seeks a qualified Director of Assessing to oversee valuation and re-valuation of real and personal property in accordance with MA laws and DOR regulations. Salary ranges from $132,334 to $158,151 with 40 hours/week and generous benefits, including health insurance at 70% of premiums.

The role requires knowledge of assessing procedures, VISION CAMA software, and strong supervisory and communication skills.

Qualifications

• Bachelors degree with courses in business administration, finance & property assessment
• Thorough knowledge of assessing procedures and real estate appraisal
• Must have the ability to supervise personnel and present testimony on value appeals

Responsibilities

• Administers CAMA system and determines valuations of real estate and personal property for assessment purposes
• Develops, prepares and submits valuations and reports to the MA Department of Revenue
• Directs operations and budget for the Assessors Department
• Prepares defense of valuation cases and represents Town at Appellate Tax Board
