Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting is seeking a Director of Architecture and Design to lead design, construction, reimaging, remodel and FF&E strategy for a growing multi-unit restaurant organization. This leader will design, build, challenge costs and drive projects from concept through opening while protecting brand standards and guest experience.

The role requires 8–12+ years in a restaurant/multi-unit environment, strong portfolio, and proficiency with AutoCAD and SketchUp.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Architecture, Interior Design, Construction Management, Engineering or related field preferred.
• 8–12+ years of progressive experience in restaurant, retail, hospitality or multi-unit development.
• Demonstrated leadership across design and construction.
• Strong restaurant design portfolio covering architecture, interiors, branding, operational flow and remodel work.

Responsibilities

• Lead and evolve restaurant prototypes, remodel/reimage programs, building formats and non-traditional concepts.
• Remain hands-on in design, developing concepts, floor plans, elevations, exterior treatments, finishes and presentation materials.
• Utilize AutoCAD, SketchUp and current 3D rendering/visualization tools to test and communicate design solutions.
• Drive value engineering and design-to-cost strategies for measurable capital savings.
• Lead franchise design reviews and architectural plan approvals.
• Manage development pipeline from design through bidding, construction, turnover and opening.
• Own project budgets, cost controls, capital forecasting, schedules and construction performance.
• Oversee restaurant equipment and FF&E strategy, specs and procurement.
• Lead, coach and develop Construction and Equipment/FF&E team members.
• Establish KPIs and provide executive-level reporting on pipeline, budgets, risks and project performance.
