Job summary

Goodwin Recruiting seeks a hands-on Director of Design & Construction to lead restaurant prototype, reimage, and FF&E programs from permitting to opening in a multi-unit system. You will drive design and construction strategy, manage capital budgets, and oversee internal and external partners.

Based in Tampa with hybrid schedule, this executive role reports to the Chief Development Officer and supervises Construction Managers and FF&E teams.

Qualifications

• 8-12+ years of progressive experience in restaurant, retail, hospitality, or multi-unit development.
• Demonstrated leadership across design and construction.
• Strong portfolio including architecture, interiors, flow, constructability and remodels.
• Hands-on proficiency with AutoCAD and SketchUp or similar 3D tools.
• Proven value engineering and design optimization with capital savings.
• Experience budgeting, estimating, bidding, scheduling, procurement and close-out.

Responsibilities

• Personally develop and modify restaurant concepts, floor plans, elevations and finishes.
• Lead prototype and reimage development, challenge costs, and approve franchise plans.
• Manage pipeline from permitting through opening and coordinate partners.
• Oversee budget, schedule, quality, and execution with internal and external teams.
• Lead Construction and Procurement teams and travel as required.
