Job summary

Trinity Washington University is seeking a Director of Annual Giving in Washington, DC. You will plan and manage a year-round fundraising program for the Annual Fund, building donor engagement through direct mail, online giving, email, events, and personal solicitations.

Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree or equivalent.
  • At least five years of relevant experience in a development-related role in an educational environment, ideally in higher education.
  • Strong knowledge of Raiser's Edge software.
  • Proven track record managing an annual campaign.
  • Outstanding interpersonal and communication skills.
  • Strong organizational skills and attention to detail.
  • Ability to communicate clearly and effectively, verbally and in writing.
  • Positive attitude, flexible approach, and ability to collaborate.

Responsibilities

Trinity Washington University seeks a Director of Annual Giving. The Director of Annual Giving secures current use unrestricted support for the university from alumnae and alumni, parents and family, and friends of Trinity Washington University.

Position Summary

The Director plans, manages and will focus on building a year-round fundraising plan for the Annual Fund, the foundation of Trinity's fundraising initiatives. The fundraising plan will include goals, strategies, and programming that aim to build and engage our donor base through a variety of means including direct mail, online giving, email, crowdfunding, personal phone outreach, and events. This person will also work to ensure effective administration of annual fund gifts through acknowledgment letters, recognition of donors, and the delivery of any necessary reports and communications, such as pledge reminders, to appropriate constituents.

This position reports to the Director of Development and Alumnae/i Relations.

Primary Duties and Responsibilities

  • Work collaboratively with Director of Development to create and manage a comprehensive fundraising plan and appeal schedule for the Annual Fund:
    • Set dollar, participation, and qualitative goals for the annual giving program.
    • Create and implement strategies to achieve Annual Fund goals.
    • Create and manage a calendar/schedule of multidimensional appeals that leverages a variety of media (email solicitation, direct mail appeals, face-to-face solicitations, events) to communicate with potential and current donors.
    • Assess program at the end of the year and lead annual planning process.
  • Build relationships with constituents and personally solicit an assigned pool of prospects as appropriate.
  • Utilize Raiser's Edge to track visits, produce contact notes, and conduct appropriate constituent follow-up.
  • Draft and coordinate Annual Fund and solicitation and acknowledgement letters.
  • Analyze results of the fund and reunion campaign by tracking progress from year to year and generate reports for review.
  • Contribute content to university publications and social media as appropriate.
  • Attend on-campus and off-campus events, as appropriate.
  • Assist with prospect research.
  • Other responsibilities as assigned by the Director of Development.

Minimum Qualifications
