Job summary

The Travelers Indemnity Company in the United States is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead end-to-end software initiatives, including generative AI harnesses, and to guide cross-functional teams through complex technology transformations.

You will design scalable architectures, mentor engineers, ensure CI/CD and secure-by-design practices, and partner with business stakeholders to translate technical goals into measurable outcomes.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in CS or related STEM field.
• 6+ years of software engineering experience.
• Experience delivering AI-enabled software at scale.
• Proficiency in Python; TypeScript for AI integrations.
• Hands-on with AWS and/or Azure cloud services.
• Experience with Kubernetes and IaC (Terraform/CDK).
• Hands-on with CI/CD tooling such as GitHub Actions or Jenkins.

Responsibilities

• Design and deliver production-grade harnesses for AI and AWS apps.
• Lead architecture and system design across teams.
• Enforce source control, testing, CI/CD standards.
• Advance test automation and quality.
• Mentor engineers and share reusable patterns.
• Engage with stakeholders translating technical direction.
• Participate in cross-organizational engineering events.
• Perform other responsibilities as assigned.
