Walmart Data Ventures is seeking a Director of Software Engineering to lead the Data Ventures L2/SRE organization and transform reactive production support into a proactive, engineering-led reliability function. You will define standards for observability, SLOs/SLAs, incident management, automation, and operational excellence while partnering with product teams to enhance system reliability.

Qualifications

Bachelor's degree in computer science or related field with significant software experience.
Experience building and leading SRE/production engineering or platform teams.
Strong background in DevOps, monitoring, automation, and incident management.

Responsibilities

Lead the transformation of Data Ventures L2 support into an engineering-led SRE/L2 organization.
Define reliability standards across SLOs/SLAs, observability, incident management, alerting, and production readiness.
Modernize operations through AI-assisted triage, automation, self-service, and toil reduction.
Partner with engineering teams to strengthen production ownership and reliability.
Establish measurable reliability and operational KPIs for continuous improvement.
Build and develop a high-performing SRE team with customer focus.
Drive cross-functional initiatives to improve platform resilience and scalability.
