Job summary

Ladders is seeking a Director of Engineering to guide the architecture and delivery of customer-facing technology platforms with a strong focus on AI enablement, security, and governance. The role partners with executives to balance near-term delivery with long-term platform health and to scale engineering through people development and disciplined execution.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's or advanced degree in Software Engineering, Computer Science, or a related field, or equivalent experience.
• 10+ years of experience in software engineering, platform engineering, or technology delivery.
• 5+ years leading managers and multi-team programs.
• Proven experience with LLM-powered systems and enterprise data integration.
• Strong hiring, coaching, and performance management skills.

Responsibilities

• Own the cross-platform architecture strategy and define technical guardrails.
• Lead the integration of AI into customer-facing platforms, ensuring security and governance.
• Directly manage and develop engineering managers and individual contributors.
• Establish a cross-platform QA and test-automation strategy.
• Ensure compliance and accessibility standards are met across all platforms.
• Own portfolio outcomes, balancing delivery with long-term platform health.
• Represent engineering and AI to executives and collaborate on budget planning.
