Cboe Global Markets, Inc. seeks aDirector of Network Automation & Tooling to lead a team across network, security, and telemetry engineering. You will own automation strategy, agent framework extension, and partnerships with Operations and Engineering to drive scale using AI agents and actor-based tooling.

The role emphasizes hands-on review of architectures, prototyping, and guiding the platform toward 10x capacity, while ensuring governance and safe autonomous actions.

Qualifications

• 12+ years of progressive infrastructure, automation, or DevOps experience with 5+ years in people leadership.
• Deep production experience building and operating modern cloud-native infrastructure in AWS or equivalent, with containerized workloads on Docker/Kubernetes.
• Hands-on experience with agentic AI coding tools (Claude Code, similar) applied to production problems.
• Design or extension of an agent framework with guardrails for safe autonomous action.
• Hands-on with Ansible or equivalent for configuration management and drift detection; automated upgrade workflows.
• Familiarity with global observability platforms (Prometheus, Grafana) to guide architecture and investments.
• Working knowledge of network telemetry protocols (SNMP, gNMI, syslog) and API polling for monitoring at scale.
• Cross-domain leadership spanning network, security, and telemetry engineering; credible decision-maker across three domains.
• Scripting/automation background (Python, Ansible, Terraform) and modern CI/CD/GitOps practices.
• Excellent communication skills for engineers and business stakeholders.

Responsibilities

• Lead, mentor, and grow a multidisciplinary team in network, security, telemetry, and agent tooling.
• Own hiring, performance management, and career development for the automation function.
• Foster engineering excellence, disciplined execution, and agent-first thinking.
• Partner with Directors and VPs across Operations, Engineering, Security, and Network Engineering to align priorities and resourcing.
• Own automated configuration deployment across the network estate (Ansible today; evolving).
• Build and maintain automations to check device configuration, surface drift, and enforce standards.
• Deliver automated software/firmware upgrade tooling with validated change management.
• Develop synthetic testing automations and alerting to surface service degradation.
• Define telemetry data flows into Prometheus/Grafana and analytics/automation on top.
• Set alerting standards, thresholds, escalation, and on-call integration.
• Advance machine learning and agentic analysis for anomaly detection, forecasting, and auto-remediation.
• Guide the technical direction of the agent framework using tools like Claude Code; prototype and unblock complex problems.
• Champion responsible-AI practices with human-in-the-loop controls and rollback safety.
• Drive AI tooling adoption across infrastructure teams, starting with network engineering and operations.
• Define a multi-year vision for using AI agents to scale capacity 10x and present ROI models and roadmaps.
