Job summary

Nexcess is seeking an experienced Senior Director of Product Engineering to own the end-to-end architecture, delivery, and engineering roadmap. You will build and enable an engineering organization that ships fast and reliably, with AI-enabled tooling and processes.

You will lead multiple teams across product and delivery, establish accountable engineering managers, and drive organization design, cadence, and performance with DORA metrics.

Qualifications

• 12+ years in software engineering, with 5+ years leading teams.
• Proven ability to instrument and improve delivery using metrics like DORA.
• Hands-on AI-assisted engineering at organizational scale with measurable impact.
• Experience organizing teams, boundaries, cadence, and cross-team ownership.
• Managed hosting, cloud or high-availability services is a must.

Responsibilities

• Own architecture, delivery and engineering roadmap for your teams; partner with Product to shape and deliver it.
• Run delivery on monthly cycles with scope, design and demonstrable value.
• Design teams and assign an accountable Engineering Manager per team.
• Build the manager bench: hire, develop, calibrate and coach engineering managers.
• Lead remote teams across time zones; drive production readiness and reliability.
