Job summary

GovPilot is a GovTech company delivering cloud-based software for local governments. We seek a senior leader to align talent and capacity with business problems and to deliver high-quality software at AI-enabled pace.

You will be the operational counterpart to the VP of Engineering, ensuring discipline across architecture, MVP development, and governance of AI, code provenance, and data handling. This role requires real technical depth and strong leadership across geographies.

Qualifications

• 10+ years in software engineering, incl. 3+ years in director/senior management
• Delivery ownership across multiple concurrent products
• Proven leadership of distributed global teams, incl. managing managers
• Real technical depth; capable of evaluating system design and risk
• Rigorous program and operations management
• Hands-on GitHub experience, including Projects and Actions
• Fluency with AI coding tools and impact on review practices
• Fluency in engineering metrics and how to instrument them
• Executive communication translating engineering to business outcomes
• Track record of peer partnership with Director/Head of Product

Responsibilities

• Deliver across three product lines with end-to-end visibility and risk escalation
• Define and instrument KPIs: cycle time, lead time, deployment freq, MTTR, uptime against SLOs
• Own capacity model with Product to make roadmap commitments credible
• Staffing and capacity planning across three lines, ensure full staffing before work begins
• Directly manage and develop engineering managers and leads; oversee hiring and onboarding
• Drive AI-native engineering with governance for code provenance and data handling
• Quantify AI-assisted development ROI and balance costs against delivery outcomes
