Job summary

Smule is seeking a Director of Engineering to lead teams delivering scalable, AI-powered consumer experiences for our global community. This leader will drive Smule's transformation into an AI-first engineering organization, focusing on innovation, technical excellence, and operational performance across product and platform initiatives.

You will partner with Product, Design, Data, and other leaders to plan roadmaps, drive AI initiatives, modernize platforms, and reduce technical debt while

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Computer Science or related field.
• 8+ years of progressive software engineering experience with leadership.
• 3+ years leading engineering teams including Software Engineers/Tech Leads.

Responsibilities

• Lead engineering teams and managers to deliver product and platform roadmaps.
• Embed AI-assisted development and modern developer productivity tools.
• Evaluate emerging AI technologies to improve scalability and innovation.
• Partner with Product, Design, Data, Research, and leaders on roadmap planning.
• Uphold engineering standards for architecture, testing, security, and observability.
• Define and track KPIs for delivery velocity, quality, and reliability.
• Build high-performing teams through hiring, coaching, and leadership development.
• Lead operational reviews and continuous improvements in engineering execution.
