Job summary

Gallagher is seeking a Director of Application Development in Illinois to lead custom application delivery and modern platforms. You will report to the Affinity CIO, guide engineering managers, and partner with product, architecture, and business stakeholders to deliver scalable, secure solutions.

You will implement modern engineering practices, drive release governance, and foster talent development across multiple teams, including automation and AI-enabled patterns.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Technology, Engineering, or related field or equivalent experience.
• Minimum 10 years software engineering with leadership responsibility across multiple teams.
• Experience leading engineering managers, technical leads, or multi-team delivery organizations.
• Strong experience with modern application development, agile governance, and quality management.
• Experience in cloud environments, including Microsoft Azure.

Responsibilities

• Lead end-to-end engineering delivery across custom application development teams and programs.
• Provide leadership on priorities, risks, and trade-offs to ensure successful execution.
• Drive delivery metrics, throughput, cycle time, and release governance.
• Develop talent, hire, onboard, and build leadership depth across the function.
• Promote AI-enabled development tools, automation, and CI/CD improvements.
