Job summary

Idaho National Laboratory is seeking a Department Manager to lead the Agentic AI Systems Engineering department responsible for architecting and deploying agentic AI systems across the laboratory. This includes multi-agent orchestration, tool-use frameworks, and integration of INL's scientific and engineering codes into agentic workflows that support nuclear energy research and national mission programs.

Qualifications

• Advanced degree in Computer Science, Nuclear Engineering, Mechanical Engineering, or related field.
• Minimum 5 years' experience in the field with 2 years of leadership experience.
• Ability to obtain and maintain a DOE "Q" clearance; U.S. citizenship required.

Responsibilities

• Lead department in architecting and deploying agentic AI systems, including multi-agent orchestration, tool-use frameworks, and integration of codes into agentic workflows.
• Establish department direction, priorities, and objectives aligning with Genesis Mission and national initiatives.
• Provide leadership and oversight for employees, including performance management, staff development, and workforce planning.
• Build and sustain technical talent and organizational capabilities for multi-agent systems and integration pipelines.
• Foster collaboration across disciplines to enable multidisciplinary research and execution.
