Job summary

The Family Place in Dallas, TX seeks a Director of Accounting to partner with the CFO and lead daily financial operations. You will manage a team of four accounting professionals, ensure timely GAAP-compliant reporting, and oversee general ledger, month-end and year-end closes, balance sheet reconciliations, and internal controls to protect the organization’s resources.

This role supports budgeting, analyses, and strategic initiatives for a nonprofit focused on survivors of domestic violence.

Qualifications

• GAAP-compliant financial reporting and month-end close.
• Supervise a four-person accounting team and develop staff.
• Coordinate audits and Form 990 filings for a nonprofit.
• Budgeting, financial analysis, and internal controls.

Responsibilities

• Ensure accurate, timely financial reporting in GAAP.
• Oversee general ledger, month-end and year-end closes.
• Coordinate balance sheet reconciliations and data integrity.
• Lead revenue and expense team; prepare evaluations and goals.
• Assist CFO with audits, budgets, and strategic initiatives.
• Drive workflow improvements and best practices.
• Create strong cross-department relationships around finances.
• Perform other job-related duties as assigned.
