Job summary

Greven Executive Search is seeking an accomplished Director of Accounting in Virginia to lead accounting operations, inventory control, and financial reporting in alignment with GAAP/IFRS where applicable. You will oversee cost accounting teams, monthly close, and audits, shaping strategic financial decisions.

Ideal candidate has a Bachelor's in accounting or finance, an MBA preferred, 7+ years in accounting/finance leadership in manufacturing or consumer products, and strong Excel/Power BI

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in accounting or finance required, MBA strongly preferred.
• Minimum of seven years’ experience in accounting and finance leadership in a consumer product and/or manufacturing environment.
• Experience with inventory control oversight.
• Extensive knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI.
• ERP (Oracle/E1) experience a plus.

Responsibilities

• Oversees the leadership and development of the cost accounting, A/P, and inventory control teams, including mentorship and coaching.
• Directs financial reporting to meet bank covenant and reporting requirements.
• Oversees reporting of financial information to parent company, including monthly statutory, sales, treasury, and management reporting data.
• Manages ongoing tax and statutory licensing and reporting requirements, and tax provision documentation.
• Manages audits and reviews engagements.
• Ensures GAAP/IFRS-compliant financial statements and integrity of reporting systems.
• Oversees monthly close and financial reporting process.
• Provides guidance on accounting treatment of complex transactions and new pronouncements.
• Oversees budget and forecast submissions to the Group.

Job description

As an executive leader of the organization, the Director of Accounting will help guide the company's strategic financial decisions and will be essential to the financial health of the company. You will be accountable for the oversight of the organization’s accounting operations, as well as Inventory Control and company reporting functions.

• Oversees the leadership and development of the cost accounting, A/P, and inventory control teams, including mentorship and coaching
• Directs financial reporting to meet bank covenant and reporting requirements
• Oversees the reporting of financial information to parent company, including: monthly statutory, sales, treasury, raw materials, capital expenditures, product shop data, and management reporting data; ensures consistency of financial data uploaded between corporate entities.
• Oversees ongoing tax and statutory licensing and reporting requirements, the annual preparation of the tax provision by external tax accountants, and the annual R&D tax credit documentation requirements
• Manages audits and reviews engagements
• Ensures the consistency and integrity of financial reporting systems and controls to properly safeguard assets and provide accurate results of operations and financial positions
• Oversees the monthly close and financial reporting process
• Ensures that financials are presented in accordance with GAAP and IFRS
• Provides guidance on proper accounting treatment of complex business transactions and new accounting pronouncements
• Oversees budget and forecast submissions to the Group
• Manages operational reporting and analysis to include manufacturing, logistics and inventory control
• Accounting lead in the annual budget preparation process and subsequent updates to projections and forecasts
• Responsible for annual insurance renewal submissions and ongoing policy activity by working with insurance broker

Ideal candidates will have the following:

• Bachelor’s degree in accounting or finance required, MBA strongly preferred
• Minimum of seven years’ experience in accounting and finance leadership roles; must be within a consumer product and/or manufacturing environment
• Must have experience with inventory control oversight
• Dynamic leader with demonstrated ability to motivate and develop staff utilizing a cooperative/interactive management style
• Experience with manufacturing cost accounting and product costing required
• Extensive knowledge of Excel, PowerPoint, and Power BI
• Experience with ERP (Oracle/E1) a plus
