This key financial leadership role (Controller) will oversee the accounting operations with a strong focus on inventory management, cost accounting, and variance analysis to ensure financial accuracy and operational efficiency.
Key Responsibilities:
- Oversee the company’s financial operations, ensuring compliance with GAAP and internal policies.
- Prepare and analyze financial statements, including balance sheets, income statements, and cash flow reports.
- Lead month-end and year-end closing processes.
- Manage financial audits and coordinate with external auditors and tax advisors.
Accounting Department Management:
- Lead and manage the accounting team, including two direct reports (AR & AP staff).
- Provide guidance, mentorship, and performance management to ensure efficiency and accuracy in financial processes.
- Establish and maintain strong internal controls to safeguard company assets.
- Develop and implement best practices to enhance department productivity and accuracy.
Inventory Management & Cost Accounting:
- Develop and maintain accurate inventory accounting processes, including tracking, valuation, and reconciliation.
- Partner with operations to assess inventory levels, turnover rates, and obsolescence risks.
- Implement best practices for inventory controls and ensure alignment with production and sales goals.
- Lead physical inventory counts and cycle counting processes to minimize discrepancies.
Budgeting, Forecasting & Strategy:
- Develop annual budgets and financial forecasts, aligning with company goals and operational plans.
- Provide strategic financial insights to leadership for decision-making on pricing, production, and capital investments.
- Evaluate financial risks and opportunities, supporting long-term business planning.
Process Improvement & Systems Management:
- Identify and implement process improvements to enhance efficiency and accuracy in financial reporting.
- Leverage ERP and accounting systems to optimize financial tracking and reporting.
- Ensure compliance with internal controls and recommend enhancements to mitigate financial risks.
Qualifications:
- Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or related field (CPA, CMA, or MBA preferred).
- 5+ years of experience in accounting or finance, preferably in a manufacturing or inventory-intensive environment.
- Strong knowledge of inventory management, cost accounting, and variance analysis in a production setting.
- Experience with ERP systems (Infor Preferred), financial reporting tools, and Excel for data analysis and reporting.
- Strong analytical and problem-solving skills with a keen attention to detail.
- Excellent communication and leadership skills to collaborate across departments.
