Job summary

UMass Chan Medical School seeks a Director of Academic Technology to lead strategic planning, resource allocation, and implementation of institutional software for academic operations. You will serve as SME and consultant to students, faculty, and staff, guiding governance and continuous process improvement across the university.

The role requires building a collaborative leadership style, managing a development team, and delivering scalable IT solutions within a dynamic academic environment.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in information systems management or CS.
• 5+ years of management/supervisory experience in a large IT organization with at least 4 in academic/research IT and 3 years in an Academic Medical Center
• Demonstrated strategic thinking abilities and enterprise-wide perspective with collaborative leadership and strong communication
• Strong project management skills and ability to lead with technical and non-technical users
• Ability to lead, manage, and deal with ambiguity in a dynamic research community

Responsibilities

• Lead strategic planning, resourcing, programming and implementation of institutional software for supporting academic operations.
• Manage and lead the academic development team supporting Student Information Systems and integrations.
• Promote collaboration tools for the academic mission across multiple campuses.
• Ensure academic systems are available for students, faculty and staff.
• Develop governance and sustainable support models for academic IT services.
