Job summary

The Dallas Morning News is seeking a dynamic Director of Experimentation and Projects to drive innovation in our digital newsroom. You will lead experiments in storytelling and audience development while guiding long-term, high-impact projects across departments, with a focus on collaboration and reader-focused outcomes.

As a senior editor and leader, you will create roadmaps from conception to post-publication, manage timelines and budgets, and advocate for readers throughout the process.

Qualifications

• Five years of experience in editing and/or copy editing.
• Bachelor's degree in journalism or related field.
• Proven leadership and strong organizational skills.
• Experience guiding multi-department projects.

Responsibilities

• Develop, lead and manage experiments to expand storytelling and audience.
• Oversee project management for long-term, large-scale or complex stories.
• Collaborate with audience editors and stakeholders to plan short-term sprints.
• Monitor analytics and suggest improvements with editors.
• Evolve coverage to deepen digital audience engagement.
• Lead cross-department teams from concept to publication, on schedule and budget.
• Provide day-to-day leadership and supervision to staff, with performance reviews.
