Job summary

The Dallas Morning News seeks an Enterprise/Accountability Reporter to join our award-winning newsroom. This role focuses on in-depth investigations, narrative storytelling and data-driven reporting across North Texas.

You will produce quick-turn enterprise stories, collaborate across departments, and use multimedia to reach diverse audiences. A bachelor’s degree and five years of reporting experience are preferred.

Qualifications

• Proven track record of narrative writing and enterprise reporting.
• Aptitude for public records, financial documents and legal filings.
• Ability to manage multiple projects with speed and accuracy.
• Strong news judgment and audience-focused storytelling.
• Spanish fluency is an advantage.

Responsibilities

• Produce quick-turn enterprise and accountability stories on key issues and people in the community
• Work collaboratively in a deadline-driven newsroom environment
• Write engagingly and accurately on North Texas
• Use social media as a tool to develop story ideas and respond to what our audience is already talking about
• Build stories with links, tags, SEO best practices, attractive web headlines and multimedia when appropriate
• Monitor analytics for your stories and work with editors to suggest approaches for improvement
• Collaborate with Audience editors and our Photo team to improve the digital presentation of your stories
• Work with editors to evolve and shape your coverage to deepen engagement with our digital audience
