Job summary

The LaGuardia MWBE Advancement Center (LMAC) under RFCUNY seeks a Director to provide strategic leadership, oversight of MWBE and SDVOB training, and a robust funding strategy. You will manage programs, partnerships, and a multi-funder approach to sustain and expand services at LaGuardia Community College.

Responsibilities include program design, budget oversight, stakeholder engagement, and upcoming multi-week cohorts, with a focus on procurement standards, bonding, and workforce development.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Business Administration, Public Administration or a related field and 7-10 years of leadership experience required.
• Master’s degree preferred.
• Demonstrated knowledge of MWBE and SDVOB requirements in New York State, including bonding, compliance, prevailing wage law, project labor agreements, and contract administration.
• Proven success in grant writing and securing external funding.
• Strong ability to design and manage training or professional development programs for businesses.
• Demonstrated success in building and maintaining partnerships with government agencies, industry, and community organizations.
• Strong communication and presentation skills, with the ability to engage both small and large groups.
• Proven ability to lead teams, manage budgets, and oversee complex programs.
• Proficiency with MS Office tools; ability to learn new tools (e.g., Salesforce, data analytics software).
• Commitment to diversity, equity, and inclusion in economic and workforce development.
• Ability to work a flexible schedule, including some evenings and weekends.

Responsibilities

• Provide overall strategic direction for LMAC and develop short- and long-term plans.
• Oversee the Center’s budget, resources, and staff.
• Develop and oversee MWBE and SDVOB training programs, including multi-week cohorts.
• Lead funding strategy: grants, partnerships, and fee-based training opportunities.
• Build and maintain partnerships with funders, agencies, and industry stakeholders.
• Represent the Center with external partners and at events.
• Lead outreach to recruit MWBE and SDVOB businesses and promote programs.
• Supervise and mentor Center staff and promote collaboration.
• Establish KPIs, collect data, and report on outcomes.
• Ensure compliance with grant requirements and reporting obligations.
