Job summary

Providence School District is seeking a Director of Multilingual Learner (MLL) Instruction and Services to lead district-wide MLL initiatives from the Office of Multilingual Learners, located in Providence, RI. You will supervise MLL staff and coordinate services to raise academic achievement for multilingual learners.

The role requires deep knowledge of MLL pedagogy, collaboration with district leaders, and a proven ability to develop high-quality professional development and policy

Qualifications

• Bachelor and/or Master’s degree in applicable field of education.
• Minimum five years of successful teaching experience serving Multilingual Learners.
• At least two years of leadership experience.
• Multilingual candidate preferred (Spanish, K'iche', Swahili, Arabic, Khmer, Portuguese, Creole).
• Ability to use English Proficiency Standards with CCSS to develop academic proficiency for MLLs.
• Strong organizational and communication skills; experience with data to improve outcomes.

Responsibilities

• Direct the district’s initiatives to implement high-quality MLL programs.
• Provide leadership and accountability for MLL policies and programs in PPSD.
• Ensure effective allocation of resources for MLL programs and services.
• Supervise MLL Managers, EL Collaborative teachers and MLL coaches.
• Provide regular coaching and staff development, set priorities, and evaluate performance.
• Analyze data to drive improvement and ensure compliance with laws and standards.
• Collaborate with schools, agencies and community organizations; engage families.
• Support Seal of Biliteracy expansion and maintain confidentiality.
• Attend meetings and perform other duties as assigned.
