An established and highly respected general contractor is seeking a Director, Mission Critical to lead the continued growth of its rapidly expanding Mission Critical business.

This is a unique opportunity to join a business with an exceptional reputation, a strong pipeline of work, and ambitious plans to become a recognised leader within the data centre construction market.

This is a strategic leadership position that combines project delivery, business development, client engagement, operational oversight and market growth. You will play a key role in expanding the company's Mission Critical portfolio by developing long-term client partnerships, securing future opportunities and ensuring projects are delivered to the highest standards of safety, quality, programme and commercial performance.

As the business continues to grow, this role is expected to evolve into a senior Business Unit Leadership position.

The Opportunity

Working alongside senior operational leadership, you will help shape the future of the Mission Critical division, providing strategic direction while supporting the successful delivery of large-scale, complex construction projects.

You will strengthen existing client relationships, establish new partnerships across the Mission Critical sector and work collaboratively with project teams to ensure exceptional client outcomes throughout the project lifecycle.

Key Responsibilities
  • Lead the strategic growth of the Mission Critical business across the Southeast.
  • Build and develop executive-level relationships with data centre owners, developers and other key Mission Critical clients.
  • Generate new business opportunities and develop a sustainable project pipeline beyond the current backlog.
  • Collaborate closely with operational leadership to ensure projects are delivered safely, on time, within budget and to the highest quality standards.
  • Act as an executive client partner from pursuit through project completion, ensuring exceptional customer satisfaction.
  • Provide strategic oversight while maintaining a strong understanding of project delivery and technical challenges.
  • Review and negotiate commercial agreements and construction contracts.
  • Mentor, develop and inspire high-performing teams while helping shape the long-term direction of the business.
  • Work collaboratively with preconstruction, operations and executive leadership to identify new market opportunities.
  • Travel between Richmond and Charlotte to support clients, projects and business development activities.
What We're Looking For

We're looking for an accomplished construction leader who combines technical credibility with commercial acumen and a passion for building long-term client relationships.

You will likely possess:
  • Hyperscale or colocation data centre construction experience is highly desirable, although candidates from other complex Mission Critical sectors are also encouraged to apply.
  • A strong understanding of complex construction delivery and the ability to engage credibly with both clients and operational teams.
  • A proven track record of developing trusted client relationships and generating repeat business.
  • Experience leading multidisciplinary project teams and collaborating across operations, preconstruction and executive leadership.
  • Strong commercial awareness, including contract review and negotiation.
  • Existing relationships within the Mission Critical construction ecosystem, including owners, developers, consultants or key trade partners, would be advantageous.
The Ideal Individual

You’ll be someone who:

  • Thrives in a fast-paced, entrepreneurial environment.
  • Leads with urgency, accountability and sound judgement.
  • Builds relationships naturally and enjoys engaging with clients and industry partners.
  • Has the executive presence to represent the business at the highest level.
  • Balances strategic thinking with a genuine understanding of project delivery.
  • Is motivated by the opportunity to build and grow a market-leading business rather than simply maintain an existing portfolio.
Why Apply?
  • Join a highly respected contractor with an outstanding reputation for delivering complex construction projects.
  • Become a key leader within a rapidly growing Mission Critical business.
  • Help shape the future direction of a business with a strong secured pipeline
  • Enjoy a genuine opportunity to progress into Business Unit Leadership as the division continues to expand.
  • Play a pivotal role in winning new work, strengthening client partnerships and delivering landmark Mission Critical projects.
