Job summary

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites applications for a Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of the Medical Lab Sciences Program to begin Spring 2027. This 12-month, non-tenure-track appointment combines academic leadership with teaching responsibilities on the Laredo campus.

The successful candidate will lead curriculum development, accreditation activities, clinical partnerships, and student mentorship, while advancing workforce development across South Texas.

Qualifications

• The candidate must hold an earned master’s degree in Medical Laboratory Science, Clinical Laboratory Science, Biological Sciences, Health Sciences, or closely related field.
• Current national MLS/MT certification through ASCP or equivalent.
• Minimum five years of professional clinical laboratory experience across multiple disciplines.
• Minimum three years in higher education teaching or program administration.
• Strong knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, and accreditation processes.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for implementing and improving the BSMLS program.
• Develop, assess, and revise curriculum and student learning outcomes.
• Teach undergraduate Medical Laboratory Science courses.
• Recruit, advise, and mentor students from diverse backgrounds.
• Develop and maintain clinical partnerships and coordinate education experiences.
• Support program accreditation activities and maintain compliance with standards.
