Job summary

Texas A&M International University (TAMIU) invites applications for Clinical Assistant/Associate Professor and Director of the Medical Lab Sciences Program in Laredo, TX. This full-time, non-tenure-track 12-month role combines administrative leadership with teaching responsibilities in a growing BSMLS program.

The successful candidate will oversee curriculum, outcomes assessment, and clinical partnerships, guiding student success and workforce readiness across South Texas and the border region.

Qualifications

• Earned master’s degree in MLS, CLS, biology, health sciences, or related field.
• Current national MLS/MT certification via ASCP BOC or equivalent.
• Min 5 years professional clinical lab experience across multiple disciplines.
• Min 3 years higher ed teaching, lab education, or program admin experience.
• Knowledge of curriculum development, assessment, accreditation, and admin.
• Strong organizational, leadership, and interpersonal skills.

Responsibilities

• Provide leadership for implementing, assessing, and improving the BSMLS program.
• Support accreditation activities and ensure compliance with standards.
• Teach undergraduate MLS courses and foster student-centered learning.
• Recruit, advise, and mentor students, including first-generation learners.
• Recruit, hire, onboard, and evaluate program faculty with department leadership.
• Develop partnerships with healthcare providers to support clinical education.
