Job summary

A leading healthcare technology company is seeking a Director of Machine Learning to own the ML roadmap end-to-end. This role involves shipping production systems for diagnostic reasoning and chronic disease management, leading a talented team, and establishing best practices for safety and compliance in AI systems. Candidates should have extensive experience in ML, particularly with large language models, and a proven track record in building scalable production systems. This is a full-time on-site position located in New York City, with hybrid options considered.

Qualifications

• 8–12+ years in ML/AI with 3–5+ years leading teams.
• Experience with FDA SaMD guidance, IEC 62304/82304, or similar frameworks is a plus.
• Healthcare/med-tech experience; familiarity with HL7, FHIR, EHR integrations.

Responsibilities

• Translate ambiguous clinical problems into prioritized ML roadmaps.
• Ship production models for triage and decision support.
• Lead design reviews and author high-signal design docs.

Skills

Deep hands-on experience with LLMs/gen-AI

Proficiency in Python

Solid software engineering fundamentals

Strong applied track record shipping real-time production ML systems

Excellent written/spoken communication
