What You'll Do
Avalara is looking for a Director of Marketing Analytics to lead a team of 6-8 marketing analytics professionals and lead the evolution of our data capabilities. You will be responsible for marketing performance measurement, attribution modeling, audience insights, predictive analytics, and experimentation, ensuring our marketing strategy is optimized for revenue impact.

What Your Responsibilities Will Be
- You will oversee end-to-end marketing performance measurement, ensuring visibility into campaign effectiveness, Return on investment, and pipeline contribution.
- You will lead multi-touch attribution modeling, aligning with finance and sales to measure Marketing's true impact on revenue.
- You will standardize funnel and conversion analysis.
- You will expand attribution frameworks to integrate web analytics data, user behavior insights, and customer journey tracking for a holistic view of performance.
- You will stay ahead of latest AI trends and MarTech advancements to ensure Avalara remains at the forefront of AI-powered marketing analytics.
- You will expand web analytics capabilities to track digital experiences, ensuring an end-to-end view of website engagement and its impact on the customer journey.
- You will use predictive analytics and forecasting to guide marketing budget allocation and pipeline planning.
- You will oversee the development of marketing dashboards infrastructure, ensuring data is accessible and accurate.
- You will formalize an experimentation program across all marketing channels, establishing frameworks for A/B testing, incrementality testing, and data-driven decision-making.
- You will enhance conversion rate optimization (CRO) strategies by using web analytics insights, behavioral data, and on-site experiments.
- You will drive integration of web analytics data with CRM (Salesforce), MAP (Marketo/Eloqua), and BI tools (Looker, Tableau, Power BI) to unify cross-channel reporting.
- You will improve data pipelines for marketing analytics, reducing latency and ensuring real-time access to critical insights.
- You will lead a team of 6-8 marketing analytics professionals, encouraging an insights-driven culture.
- You will advocate for ongoing investment in marketing analytics tools and data infrastructure, aligning with IT and RevOps on MarTech improvements.
What You’ll Need To Be Successful
- 8 or more years of experience in Marketing analytics, business intelligence, or data science, with a focus on B2B SaaS.
- Experience managing marketing analytics teams of 5+ people.
- Expertise in marketing performance measurement, attribution modeling, and funnel analysis.
- Hands-on experience with BI and visualization tools (e.g., Tableau, Looker, Power BI), CRM systems (e.g., Salesforce), and marketing automation platforms (e.g., Marketo, Eloqua).
- Experience with advanced SQL queries (e.g., CTE, Window Functions and data modeling)
- Expertise in data engineering principles, including ETL pipelines, SQL, cloud data warehouses (Snowflake, BigQuery, Redshift), and API integrations.
- Experience with privacy-first measurement strategies, including server-side tracking, CDPs, and cookie-less attribution methodologies.
- Understanding of ad platforms (Google, Facebook, LinkedIn, Bing) and ad optimization tools, bid planning, and campaign management.
- Experience implementing marketing analytics process improvements and aligning data infrastructure with best practices.
- Stakeholder management skills, with experience partnering across Marketing, Sales, Finance, and RevOps.
Pay Range Details
The base pay range(s) below are provided in compliance with state specific laws. Pay ranges may be different in other locations.
Colorado $148,800 - $245,600 (Annual Salary)
Washington $148,800 - $271,500 (Annual Salary)
California $148,800 - $297,300 (Annual Salary)
New York $164,500 - $297,300 (Annual Salary)
The pay range above is the general base pay range for you in the state listed. Your actual salary/wage may be based on multiple factors, such as geographic location, candidate experience and qualifications, and market and business considerations. This role is eligible for an annual bonus based on personal and company performance, depending on the terms of the applicable plan and your role.
