Job summary

Xcel Energy is seeking a Senior Engineering Leader for its Major Projects Group in the United States. This role provides strategic leadership and technical direction for engineering oversight across a multi-disciplinary portfolio, ensuring safety, quality, and cost-effectiveness from feasibility to close-out.

Responsibilities include managing internal engineers and consultants, upholding codes and standards, and aligning with regulatory and enterprise goals.

Qualifications

• Bachelor of Science degree in Engineering from an accredited college or university.
• 12+ years of combined engineering, design, construction, and/or project management experience.
• At least 5 years in engineering leadership or management of multi-discipline teams.
• Knowledge of applicable codes, standards, and regulations (NESC, NEC, NERC/FERC, OSHA, DOT, EPA).
• Professional Engineer (PE) registration.
• Strong written and verbal communication skills.
• Up to 50% travel between regions.

Responsibilities

• Provide engineering oversight and technical direction for the Major Projects portfolio across operating companies.
• Direct and manage internal engineers and external consultants to deliver high-quality designs on time and within budget.
• Establish and maintain uniform engineering standards, specifications, and design criteria.
• Lead EPC-related activities, design optimization, and risk assessment for capital projects.
• Coordinate with internal and external partners to ensure enterprise alignment and regulatory compliance.
