AMERICAN ELECTRIC POWER seeks a Major Projects Director to lead complex initiatives with multi-billion dollar capital requirements and diverse components. The role drives safety, schedule, cost, and regulatory compliance while aligning stakeholders and delivering results across the project lifecycle.

You will oversee EPC or third-party resources as needed, provide executive reporting, and mentor a high-performing project leadership team to ensure safe delivery within budget and schedules.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree with ten years of qualified experience in major projects or project management.
• PMP certification is required.
• Valid state driver's license.
• Internal candidate experience considerations for senior project roles.

Responsibilities

• Own overall project execution including directing, guiding, and overseeing project management functions to successfully complete assigned project.
• Implement and oversee project safety program with zero harm objective.
• Report on project strategy and team needs to Executive leadership with comprehensive solutions.
• Establish project commercial contracting strategy and negotiate agreements for contractors and EPC work.
• Lead executive governance with JV partners and coordinate with senior stakeholders.
