Director Level Attorney – Privacy

Responsibilities:

  • Draft and negotiate commercial agreements with customers.
  • Develop customer-centric solutions to ensure both legal compliance and internal and external customer needs are satisfied.
  • Provide practical, timely, strategic, and high-quality legal advice and counsel on global privacy and data security-related matters across the Company globally.
  • Advise on best practices and compliance with global privacy and data protection laws, overseeing legal and regulatory aspects of data collection and use, privacy disclosures, and transparency.
  • Advise on potential liability and other legal aspects related to data privacy and data security incidents, supporting the Company's privacy and cybersecurity incident response programs.
  • Support the development and delivery of privacy training materials and communications to increase employee understanding of Company privacy policies, data handling practices, and legal obligations.

Education:

  • Juris Doctorate degree (or equivalent) from an ABA accredited law school.
  • Licensed in good standing to practice law in at least one State.

Experience:

  • 6+ years’ experience as prior in-house counsel and privacy experience required.
  • Current member of the bar or able to be admitted to the in-house counsel bar.
  • Experience negotiating and drafting a variety of agreements, including customer terms relating to services, data, and information technology.
  • Privacy certifications (e.g., IAPP) a plus.

  • Strong oral and written communication skills.
  • Demonstrated ability to build relationships and work with cross-functional teams.
  • Detail-oriented with the ability to balance competing priorities and manage multiple projects simultaneously under deadline pressure.

Location: Open to remote but must reside in the U.S. or Ontario.

The salary range for this position is $130K-$165K/yr; however, base pay offered may vary depending on location, job-related knowledge, skills, and experience. A discretionary incentive program may be provided as part of the compensation package, in addition to a full range of medical and other benefits, dependent on full-time employment status.
