Job summary

University Health seeks a Director of Laboratory Services for the Palo Alto Hospital to lead pathology operations and oversee the laboratory team ensuring high-quality patient care. The role reports to the Vice President of Pathology Services and emphasizes strategic leadership, regulatory compliance, and collaboration with medical directors and staff across departments.

The ideal candidate will hold a bachelor’s in a medical science with substantial health-care leadership experience;

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a biological/chemical/medical science is required.
• Master’s degree in business or health care administration is preferred.

Responsibilities

• Informs the Medical Directors, Managers and Supervisors of developing trends within pathology and proposes approaches to dealing with needed changes.
• Monitors the Pathology Information System and coordinates with Quality/Compliance and nursing staff on Point-of-Care testing.
• Collaborates with Donor Services management and Corporate Communications in donor program development and monitoring.
• Participates in regional and national management organizations to stay informed on laboratory industry issues and raise the university health profile.

Education

Bachelor’s degree in medical technology or a biological/chemical/medical science

Master’s degree in business or health care administration (preferred)
