Job summary

Piedmont Columbus Midtown is seeking a Director to plan, direct and monitor strategic and tactical goals for the Laboratory Department in collaboration with the Medical Director and other clinical and operational stakeholders involved in hospital laboratory services.

The role will oversee all day-to-day administrative aspects including financial, operational and human resource issues, develop and approve technical policies, ensure regulatory compliance, and foster a collaborative team focused on

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in Medical Technology or relevant science is required.
• If no bachelor’s degree, an Associate degree plus 7 years of Medical Technologist experience is required.
• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration is preferred.

Develops and approves technical and operational policies and procedures, and ensures compliance with regulatory and accrediting agencies. Creates a highly efficient, accountable, and collaborative team environment with staff and with customers (physicians, nursing, and outreach clinics). Responsible for ensuring the highest standards of patient safety and quality are followed and maintained.

Qualifications

Education

• Bachelor’s Degree in Medical Technology, or other acceptable science from a recognized college or university. Required or
• In Lieu of Bachelor's degree, Associates in Medical Technology and 7 years of Medical Technologist experience Required
• Master’s degree in Business Administration or Health Administration Preferred

Work Experience

• 5 years clinical experience and progressive leadership experience Required

Licenses and Certifications

• Certification in medical technology; certification as a medical technologist or medical laboratory scientist by the American Society of Clinical Pathologists (ASCP), AMT (American Medical Technologists) or AAB (American Association of Bioanalysts). AAB provisional certification not accepted Required
