Job summary

Albertsons Companies seeks a Director of Labor Relations to lead, negotiate, administer and implement contracts for the Jewel Osco Division and related units, with occasional support for other divisions in the Eastern United States. This role supervises Labor Relations Managers and partners with unions, management and HR to secure favorable terms.

The position requires a JD, at least five years of union-negotiation experience, strong writing and negotiation skills, and the ability to travel up

Qualifications

• JD required and active bar admission preferred.
• Minimum 5 years of experience at a labor & employment law firm or equivalent leading union negotiations.
• Excellent writing and negotiation skills.
• Ability to work with cross-functional teams and drive consensus.

Responsibilities

• Lead, negotiate, administer and implement contracts and collective bargaining agreements.
• Supervise Labor Relations Managers in their dealings with local unions and division leadership.
• Draft initial proposals, review union requests and negotiate terms that meet employee and business needs.
• Resolve escalated contract interpretation issues and advise HR leaders on resolutions.
• Manage trusts related to pension/benefits and coordinate with third-party providers.
• Collaborate with management to ensure contract terms are adhered to and aligned with business strategy.
• Travel up to 50% and partner with unions daily; ensure regulatory compliance (DOL, EEOC, HIPAA, ADA).
