Job description

We are recruiting a Director of Investment Accounting to oversee key accounting and reporting activities related to a complex investment portfolio. This is a hands-on leadership role in the monthly and quarterly close processes, ensuring accurate and timely investment accounting and financial reporting. The Director will also lead and develop team members, strengthen controls, and identify opportunities to improve the efficiency and scalability of existing processes.

Responsibilities:

• Lead the preparation and review of investment-related accounting and financial reporting, including quarterly financial statement and regulatory reporting requirements
• Manage the monthly investment accounting close process, ensuring activities are completed accurately and within established reporting timelines
• Oversee investment account reconciliations, controls, and supporting documentation to ensure accuracy and completeness
• Provide accounting oversight for investment activity across a diversified portfolio, which may include fixed income, derivatives, alternative investments, and other asset classes
• Partner with internal investment, treasury, financial reporting, and other finance teams to research and resolve accounting and reporting matters
• Collaborate with external asset managers, investment accounting platforms, and service providers to support new investment activity and ongoing reporting
• Identify opportunities to improve processes, controls, reporting quality, and close timelines
• Support the continued development of the investment accounting function as portfolio complexity and business needs evolve
• Coach, develop, and provide technical guidance to members of the accounting team

Requirements:

• 10+ years of progressive accounting, financial reporting, or related experience, including leadership or management responsibilities
• Experience in reporting and accounting for investments
• Experience within financial services, investment management, insurance, banking, or another regulated environment is required
• Hands-on experience with investment accounting, investment portfolios, or accounting/reporting for investment-related activity is required
