Job summary

Highspring is seeking a hands-on Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and the month-end close while ensuring accuracy and compliance. You will lead a small team, strengthen internal controls, and drive automation to scale the finance function.

The role reports to the Controller and requires strong technical accounting skills, CPA preferred, and experience with modern ERP systems.

Qualifications

Our client is seeking a hands-on, technology-forward Accounting Manager to oversee accounting operations, financial reporting, and month-end close activities while ensuring accuracy, compliance, and operational excellence. Reporting directly to the Controller, this individual will lead and mentor a small accounting team, strengthen internal controls, drive process improvements, and help scale the finance function through automation and technology-enabled solutions.

Key Responsibilities

• Lead day-to-day accounting operations, including general ledger, accounts payable, and month-end close activities, ensuring timely and accurate financial reporting in accordance with U.S. GAAP.
• Manage, mentor, and develop a high-performing accounting team, fostering a culture of ownership, accountability, and continuous improvement.
• Drive enhancements to the month-end close process by identifying opportunities for automation, efficiency gains, and scalability.
• Establish and maintain strong internal controls, approval workflows, and documentation standards to support a well-governed finance function.
• Oversee balance sheet reconciliations and ensure timely resolution of outstanding or historical reconciling items.
• Evaluate, implement, and optimize accounting systems and technology solutions to improve accuracy, reduce manual effort, and support business growth.
• Collaborate cross-functionally with business partners across the organization to provide financial insights and operational support.
• Serve as a strategic partner to finance leadership in identifying opportunities to leverage automation and emerging technologies across accounting processes.
• Perform detailed balance sheet and income statement variance analyses, proactively investigating trends and recommending corrective actions when necessary.
• Support special projects, system implementations, and other ad hoc initiatives as needed.

Qualifications

• Bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• 5-8 years of progressive accounting experience, ideally including a blend of public accounting and private/public environments.
• CPA designation strongly preferred.
• Deep understanding of U.S. GAAP and strong technical accounting skills.
• Proven ability to evaluate, implement, or improve accounting systems and finance technology platforms.
• Strong analytical, organizational, and problem-solving abilities.
• Self-starter with a high level of accountability and the ability to work independently in a fast-paced environment.
• Demonstrated leadership experience with a track record of coaching and developing team members.
• Excellent communication skills and a collaborative approach to partnering across functions.
• Experience with modern ERP systems and accounting automation tools is a plus.
