Job summary

Pima Community College seeks a Director for Innovation and the Small Business Development Center (SBDC) to lead the Innovation Team and the SBDC, delivering business counseling and training to small businesses in Pima and Santa Cruz counties through SBA and college funding.

The role requires strategic vision, leadership, and the ability to manage day-to-day operations, budgets, and reporting, with a flexible schedule that may include evenings, weekends, and travel within the region.

Qualifications

• Bachelor’s degree in related field.
• Five to eight years of related experience.
• Three plus years of supervisory experience.
• Valid Arizona driver license.

Responsibilities

• Develops, manages and implements service functions for the SBDC including counseling, seminars, workshops, classes, programs, and consultant services for small businesses.
• Advises business owners and prospective clients.
• Provides business assistance per SBA guidelines and procedures.
• Promotes growth, innovation, productivity, sustainability, and management improvement in the region.
• Manages daily Center operations to meet objectives and contractual obligations.
• Liaises with local, state, and federal organizations involved in business climate improvement.
• Ensures alignment with workforce and economic development priorities and College policies.
• Prepares reports for SBA AZSBDC Network and maintains contract compliance.
• Develops and implements the SBDC budget with College according to guidelines.
• Prepares funding documents and seeks additional funds.
• Supervises, trains, mentors, and evaluates staff.
• Provides direction for projects and drives annual production goals.
• Manages and maintains a client portfolio.
