Vitamin Angels is seeking a Director of Individual Giving to build and lead our first-ever donor program. This hands-on role focuses on designing systems, donor engagement strategies, and a growing portfolio of individual supporters.
Reporting to the Chief Development Officer, you will establish a sustainable pipeline, craft compelling fundraising materials, and collaborate with leadership and board members to advance philanthropic impact, with a target to raise significant donor support in year
Position: Director, Individual Giving
Employer: Vitamin Angels Alliance, Inc.
Department: Development
Location: Remote in the US (Eastern or Central Time Zone Preferred)
Salary: $150,000-170,000
Vitamin Angels (VA) is a 501(c)3 non-profit, global public health organization working towards ending malnutrition worldwide by distributing life-changing vitamins and minerals to at-risk mothers and children under five throughout the U.S., and around the world. Vitamin Angels is an equal opportunity employer that is committed to diversity and inclusion in the workplace. We are a dedicated group of individuals who aim to foster a supportive environment where everyone can contribute, thrive, and grow.
Vitamin Angels is building a dedicated individual giving function for the first time. This is a hands-on role with two connected responsibilities: building the foundation for a sustainable individual giving program and raising money through existing donor relationships. The Director of Individual Giving will develop practical systems, donor engagement strategies, and broaden a pipeline of prospects while managing a growing portfolio of individual donors.
In partnership with the Chief Development Officer (CDO), the person in this role will have the opportunity to shape our approach to individual giving. Success will require initiative, comfort with ambiguity, and the ability to balance program development with consistent outreach and solicitation. Working closely with the CDO, they will set priorities and build the function over time.
Currently, VA is raising approximately $500,000 across all areas of individual giving with a relatively passive approach to fundraising from existing donors. Given the potential in our existing donor base, we conservatively expect this person will raise at least $1 million in their first year and then set realistic, yet ambitious goals, as the individual giving program gains momentum.
Success will include both fundraising results and progress in building the function: a clear individual giving plan, a qualified donor pipeline, consistent donor engagement and stewardship practices, and gifts secured.
Within the bounds of VA's mission, values and policies, and sound professional practices, the Director of Individual Giving has the broad discretion to use independent judgement to manage their activities in whatever way will best serve VA clients, partners, employees, and mission. Specific authorities associated with this position and their implementation procedures will be determined in conjunction with Chief Development Officer.
VA operates under a collaborative, matrix management model. The Director of Individual Giving is supervised by the Chief Development Officer with respect to overall assignments and performance.
