Job summary

LifeBridge Health's Sinai Hospital of Baltimore seeks a Director of Imaging Services to plan, direct, and manage all administrative functions for Imaging Services. You will coordinate daily operations, liaise with departments and physicians, and drive high-quality, cost-conscious patient care.

A Master’s degree plus imaging certification are required, with MBA/MHA/MPH preferred. 5–7 years of leadership experience in imaging, BLS certification, and strong budgeting skills are expected.

Job description

Summary:

The Director of Imaging Services is responsible for the planning, directing and management of all administrative functions for Imaging Services. Coordinates the daily operations of all divisions within the departments, serves as a liaison between the department other hospital departments and the community. Collaborates with Departmental Chairman and other physicians to provide excellence in patient care in a fiscally responsible manner. Works in partnership with other staff members and physicians; and proactively identifies and provides for customers' needs using appropriate quality service standards.



Responsibilities:


  • Directs daily activities of the Department of Radiology by directing the non-physician staff. Develops and implements administrative and technical policies and procedures for the Departments; establishes performance and productivity standard for quality and quantity of work and methods of operations; communicates and interprets policies, purposes and goals to staff members.

  • Prepares statistical and narrative reports concerning the activities and evaluation of programs and services offered.

  • Evaluates operational needs of the Department regarding financial and facilities planning, personnel etc.

  • Responsible for the long-range planning including preparing proposals for new programs and services and developing supporting equipment, services, staff and financial plan.

  • Reviews departmental policies and procedures to ensure compliance with Federal and State regulations and monitors their implementation; coordinates activities to sustain accreditation of department's staff.

  • Manages and plans, directly or through subordinates, the quality control program, general safety, and infection control procedures for the Department.

  • Handles all fiscal responsibilities in the Department. Analyzes cost of supplies and services, reviews and approves requests for and monitors use of equipment and supplies.

  • Maintains record of departmental expenses.

  • Prepares departmental budgets and manages expenditures within such budgets, informs Administration and works with Physician Chairman and appropriate subordinates to address significant variations.

  • Maintains cost controls by establishing and revising fee schedules, charges manuals and billing procedures in conjunctions with Hospital's financial departments.

  • Researches, negotiates and prepares contracts for business and personal services with sources outside of the Hospital.

  • Communicates relevant and pertinent information to the department and throughout the facility, to ensure optimal patient care and that the staff are aware of new initiatives and issues as they arise. Represents Department at various committee meetings.

  • Conducts departmental staff meetings and conferences, provides mechanism for routine documentation and feedback.

  • Participate in community activities to promote the utilization of services offered by the Department.

  • Build strong relationships with patients, families, co-workers and the surrounding community.

  • Utilizes appropriate negotiation and communication strategies to mediate and resolve conflicts among employees and/or customers.

  • Interacts with medical staff and other hospital personnel to provide quality, cost effective, efficient and coordinated services while enhancing the public perception of the department.

  • Provides and seeks out networking and educational opportunities within the facility and community for purposes of learning, educating and promoting Imaging Services.

  • Coordinates with physicians and acts as advocate. Coordinates with physicians to ensure accurate and timely readings, interpretations and completion of patient charts.

  • Serves as patient or customer advocate, investigates problems, complaints and issues of concern, and initiates corrective action as necessary.

  • Participates in activities that ensure and enhance knowledge and skills. Adheres to service excellence principles. Attends all mandatory in-services.

  • Displays a commitment to the value of teamwork. Identifies needs and initiates new ideas.

  • Seeks outside training to enhance knowledge and skills. Ensures that all customers receive exemplary service.

  • Demonstrates knowledge of and behaviors consistent with the standards of conduct and code of excellence, acts in a way that shows sensitivity for confidentiality, integrity and respect for diversity. Demonstrates empathy and understanding of patient/customer concerns by listening carefully and responding appropriately. Exceed patient/customer needs by anticipating, identifying and responding to such needs promptly and in a caring and courteous manner.

  • Maintains patient confidentiality; respects privacy and needs of all patients; continually demonstrates actions that indicate an understanding of the Patient's Rights. Keep patients and customers informed, explain delays, and provides clear and concise information. Portrays a positive organizational image through adherence to the dress code and maintaining a clean work environment.

  • Works at maintaining a good rapport and appropriate interdepartmental relationships with all patient care personnel, promotes a spirit of cooperation through frequent communication.



Experience:


  • 5-7 years of relevant experience in

  • Master's Degree required. MBA, MHA, or MPH preferred

  • BLS cert required

  • Imaging certification



Pay Range: $65.89 to $98.84 (based on experience). This is a salaried position and also offers annual director level bonus incentive.
